Pre-Production - Film Opening Movie Script 1
Our objective for this assignment was to complete a script containing directions for the 3 scenes for our film opening to support our production that was going to occur in the next few days our script had to include an original and compelling title, a list of characters at the beginning, a narrator or “Scene” description at the beginning, which sets the stage and gives us details of the setting and characters as the play begins, and dialogue. We also had to give stage directions.

FADE IN: EMMA is on her way to detention to see her
friend has detention too. [Action] EMMA is walking through the hallway on her
way to detention as “Little Dark Age” by MGMT blasts through her air pods. EMMA stops at the front of door C191
[behind shot of EMMA... Include shot of door number], where afterschool
detention is being held [Pausing her music] EMMA stares through the
window [over shoulder shot of Emma looking through window] for a few seconds. EMMA goes to twist the doorknob, [shot of
EMMA’s hand reaching for the doorknob] but she is startled by a text message
that she just received from her ex-boyfriend MATTHEW. EMMA clicks into the text message and takes
a second read it. [looking indecisively] she decides not to respond and slips
phone into her back pocket. – [Taking a deep breath] EMMA finally works
up the nerve to open the door and walk into class. MORE EMMA looks around the room and sees two or
three other students in the class EMMA recognizes one of the girls, KAYLA
WALKER, [Camera flashes to KAYLA for a second] and she waves. KAYLA, 17-year-old in the 11th
grade, runs track and attends piper high KAYLA
KAYLA – [Dryly] “Oh… hey Emma, you got detention too”? EMMA, High Schooler who attends Piper High,
In the 11th Grade and is 16th turn 17 in a few months EMMA
EMMA – [With a chuckle & shrug] “Yep, unfortunately. Second time
this week.”
[Camera trailing behind Emma]
EMMA then takes a seat towards the back of the classroom. END OF BEGINNING
SCENE SECOND SCENE
DISSOLVE TO: INT/EXT. Classroom C191 – Day A UNKNOWN WOMEN is taking attendance right
after EMMA asks to use the restroom and then a few seconds later the UNKNOWN
WOMAN gets a call to pick up from the office. [Starts off with over the shoulder shot of
the UNKNOWN WOMEN’S back and classroom] UNKNOWN WOMEN, she tall and has a bob UNKNOWN WOMEN UNKNOWN WOMEN – [Firmly & aggressively]
“Welcome to detention. I’m going to call attendance. Please listen for your
names. This shouldn’t take long since there are only three of you”. [Short pause] UNKNOW WOMEN “Kayla Walker”? [Media full shot of Kayla]
KAYLA WALKER – “Here”! [Camera switches back over the Unknown
women’s shoulder] MORE UNKNOW WOMEN – [pronouncing name wrong]
“Deliah Mitchell”? [Medium full shot of Delilah] Deliah 9th grade,14 , plays
basketball and attends piper high DELIAH – [Lifts her head off of the desk] “Here,
but uhh… it’s pronounced De-li-lah, and where’s Mrs. Jones… doesn’t she
usually do detention on Fridays”? [Extreme close up of UKNOWN WOMEN’S EYES] UNKNOWN WOMMEN

“Mrs. Jones had an emergency; she couldn’t make it” [Camera on back on Delilah] DELIAH [Sinking into her
seat] “Oh [Camera back over Unknown women’s shoulder] UNKNOWN WOMEN
– “Emma Jones”? [Camera switches to Emma and stays on Emma] EMMA JONES – “Here, and can I use the
restroom”? UNKNOWN WOMMEN

“Yes you may. Please grab the pass on your way out.” EMMA JONES –
“Yes ma’am” [Medium full shot of Emma getting up from
her seat and walking towards the camera] [Emma exits] [Camera back on Unknown women from the
waist down] UNKNOWN
WOMMEN – [Referring to Kayla and Delilah] “In the
meantime, you two sit tight. I need to grab something from the front office.” [Only shot of Unknown women’s feet exiting
the room] END OF BEGINNING
